Richmond to Ingleby Cross - Bolton 0n Swale Church - Wainwright coast to coast C2C walk

Bolton-on-Swale parish church.

The Bolton on Swale burial register shows that a Henry Jenkins was buried here on 9th December 1670, with the added comment that he was "a very aged and poor man".
In 1743, an obelisk to Jenkins’ memory was erected in the Bolton Churchyard; in the church itself a black marble tablet was placed, recording that he lived to the ‘amazing age of 169’.

Richmond to Ingleby Cross - Vale of Mowbray Vale of York - Wainwright coast to coast C2C walk

Day 10 is a long walk, much of it on tarmac, and is all about stamina and steady pacing.

20 miles of this day's walk is devoted to crossing the Vale of Mobray - the flat arable land between the Pennines and the Cleveland Hills/North York Moors.
The scenery is pretty, but devoid of anything spectacular.

The main objective of day 10 is Ingleby Cross at the foot of the Cleveland Hills.
The Cleveland Hills can just be made out in the middle distance.
